About Us

Arsal Gıda Company established in 1960s. The foundations of Arsal Gıda began to take shape when Hüseyin Arsal commenced his studies at the Department of Food and Fermentation at the Faculty of Agriculture, Ankara University. Hüseyin Arsal completed his education in 1974, driven by a strong desire to establish a food production facility one day. During his studies, Hüseyin Arsal gained valuable experience through internships and work at various pickle and jam factories. In 1974, Arsal returned to Cyprus, where he worked in several departments of the Ministry of Agriculture. In 1978, he was appointed as the head of the Agricultural Products Inspection Service.

In 1979, driven by his passion for production, Hüseyin Arsal, together with his wife Sıdıka Hanım, began making pickles at home to fulfil his dreams and contribute to the family income. Pickles were a popular product enjoyed in many European countries and Cyprus. However, their production was a challenging process that required a great deal of expertise. Starting production with such a complex product would play a crucial role in the future development of the Arsal Food Industry's production and product range.

By 1988, Hüseyin Arsal and his wife Sıdıka Hanım rented a workshop and, by providing part-time job opportunities for local women, developed the production of pickles, increasing output and making it available at many points across Cyprus. For many years, the Turkish Cypriot community had been using imported world-brand pickles, but they began consuming Arsal Pickles, their local product. Since then, almost no pickles have been imported to Cyprus. This is a great success for Arsal Food.

“We continue on our path, maintaining the same quality as on our very first day of production.”

As part of the agricultural industry, we fully depend on our surrounding, just as it depends on us. That’s why we grow our produce organically and sustainably. Over the past decades the carbon footprint of the winery has been positive, which is something we’re really proud of.

By 1996, the growing business volume and increasing production at Arsal Gıda created the need for a new workplace. After various repairs, the new facility resumed production. In addition to bikla (Vegetable Pickle), traditional and local pickle production also began here. Day by day, Arsal Products became increasingly popular among the Turkish Cypriot community, with pickles being embraced alongside bikla (Vegetable Pickle).

Until 2002, the Arsal Gıda continued production at this location. To increase product variety, improve production quality, and establish a modern factory, the company moved to its current facility, which covers 5 acres of land and has 4,000 m² of enclosed space. Hüseyin Arsal's son, Hakan Arsal, became involved in many aspects of the business, closely following technological advancements and setting up a new production line to enhance the facility's production capacity. With several successful projects completed, the facility was transformed into a modern establishment.
As the demand for Arsal products grew, increasing production became inevitable. The development of this new production area would meet the rising demands and create better, more efficient conditions, leading to the start of jam-and-paste production after 2002.
The increasing demand for Arsal products among the Turkish Cypriot community has made the need to build a strong brand for Arsal Food more important than ever. Becoming the brand of choice for consumers is key to ensuring sustainability, profitability, and expansion into international markets. By maintaining its consumer-focused approach and never compromising on the quality it offers to the public, Arsal Food aims to earn the unwavering trust of its customers.
Arsal Gıda is the first and only brand in Cyprus to develop the concept of traditional and local products. With its expanding product range, it brings innovation, health, and flavour to consumers both in Cyprus and international markets. One of the key criteria for becoming a successful brand is maintaining the brand’s identity with consistency across new areas of activity and reflecting the brand's image through the diversified product range.
As a food brand, Arsal has achieved many firsts in various fields in Cyprus over the years. These include the first pickle production, the first jam production, and the professional, hygienic production of unique Cypriot flavours, all carried out in compliance with strict hygiene standards. Furthermore, all of these products have been certified with international quality certifications.
